Will I ever be on time again??
So we're on day five of Gabbie's little life in this world. So far it's been rather adventurous. We're still getting used to a schedule with a baby, but it's going great. I've decided for sure that I have to start giving myself another 20 minutes (or more) to get anywhere on time. Today we had our first pediatrician's appointment and it went really great other than the fact we were 20 minutes late. Thankfully they were very nice and didn't even comment on my tardiness. (this is my kind of place!) Not like anything could have really changed from 3 days ago when we last saw the pediatrician in the hospital, but hey - at least we're careful, right?
Fletcher and Fiona are still getting used to their new little sister but I think they finally understand that she's not going anywhere. Fletcher's life has been threatened if he barks at another passing bird and I think he gets it finally: he just ran to the door but didn't bark, then looked to me as if to say, "I remember...no barking or you're going to kill me..." (because I have said that to him in the past 2 days)
Fiona's acting as if Gabbie is one of her own - watching my every move with her and making sure I get her if she's crying. Both of them are really funny to watch their reactions, but I think even they are sleep deprived: they're napping with Brent as I type.
Thank you to everyone who has called, sent emails, stopped by for a visit and signed up to bring a meal in the coming weeks! We really appreciate ALL of you.
I have uploaded 2 albums to the right of pictures my sister and I took while we were in the hospital. But my best friend Brittany has already created a beautiful slideshow of pictures she took on Sunday at the hospital. It is amazing - she's coming in town this weekend to take more, so I'll be sure to share as soon as they are available. You can check out all of her amazing work at www.moncriefphotography.com
Thanks again, Everyone! Now back to mommy duties...

Gabriella Paige: 7 lbs 11 oz, 18.5 in

Thank you, MoncriefPhotography for the awesome pics!!She is so perfect as I know every new mom says, but truly - she's perfect. (the doctor's even said so!)
We had a great experience in the hospital with wonderful staff and of course all of our family and friends being there. My sister was in town on Friday to be with us and help as much as she could on Friday night/Saturday morning. The greatest part is that she was around to take some really neat pictures and call everyone while I was back in the operating room. Thank you, Jen!!
Both of our parents were on their way from Chattanooga - taking their time of course because we all thought I'd be in labor for 8-10 hours, not moving into a c-section within 2 hours! My parents arrived about 20 minutes after Gabriella arrived, of course super ecstatic to get to see her. Brent's parents came right after that (unfortunately they got stuck in a HORRIBLE accident and were in traffic for an additional hour - ugh) Saturday evening Brian, Tre and Brittany came in town and got to meet our little bundle so it made for a big family affair that was so special! We are so fortunate to have our families want to come be with Gabbie as we celebrated her arrival into this world.
Sunday was even busier as more friends and family piled into our room at the hospital to see our new addition. Austin and Anne dropped by with donuts and smiling faces, then shortly after Lori came in from my work and all of Brent's family from Alabama arrived. At one point we had 25 people in our room! Needless to say, it was a little crazy.
Brittany had a wedding to photograph on Saturday evening then to set up for Sweet Chocolate Swirls at the Chattanooga Market, so she was able to come in on Saturday right after lunch. She was SOOO excited to get to meet Gabbie and the irony is that we have similar stories of when Ada was born (I was out of town when Brittany went into labor but got to meet her on her second day in this world). Jimmy, being my brother from another mother, brought in 2 dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme - rounding us out to 4 dozen donuts that people had brought! It was quite comical...LOL
Most everyone left to head back home except my parents, Jen, Brian and the kids and the Moncriefs: they all stayed for a little longer - all of us wishing time would stand still and they could stay forever. Jen and Britt ended up staying VERY late on Sunday night, but we had a great time. Brittany put together a fabulous slide show of pics she had taken throughout the day. After wiping away tears and saying our goodbyes, Brent, Gabbie and I had the best night's sleep yet.
Monday brought a very restful day along with a few good friends for visitors. Sharon from my work dropped by as well as my friend Kristin from UTC. After work, Jess from UTC and our friends LeighAnne and Sinclair along with Mya had to say their hellos. Brent was about to stab his eyeballs out because he hadn't left the room, so he went to dinner with Sinclair, LeighAnne and Mya while I stayed behind and visited with Annie from work. Our evening came to a close and we had a few minutes to reflect on being new parents.
The first time it really hit me was at my 3am feeding on Saturday night when I was up and Brent was snoring away on the couch. I realized: ok this is it :) haha
Brent has been so great. I think everyone knew that Gabbie would have him wrapped around her little finger - everyone that is, except for him. He was hooked from the moment he got to hold her and she held his little pinkie during her first bath and wouldn't let go.
Who knew what 7 lbs could do to your heart??
Instead of posting all the pics individually, I've put them in an album to the right and I'll add more as we take more!

Friday Funnies!
Last Sunday, the pastor asked if anyone in the congregation would like
to express praise for answered prayers.
A lady stood and walked to the podium. She said, "I have a Praise. Two
months ago, my husband, David, had a terrible motorcycle wreck and his
scrotum was completely crushed. The pain was excruciating and the
doctors didn't know if they could help him."
You could hear a muffled gasp from the men in the congregation as they
imagined the pain that poor David must have experienced.
"David was unable to hold me or the children," she went on, "and every
move caused him terrible pain. We prayed as the doctors performed a
delicate operation, and it turned out they were able to piece together
the crushed remnants of David's scrotum, and wrap wire around it to hold
it in place."
Again, the men in the congregation were unnerved and squirmed
uncomfortably as they imagined the horrible surgery performed on David.
"Now," she announced in a quavering voice, "thank the Lord, David is out
of the hospital and the doctors say that with time, his scrotum should
recover completely."
All the men sighed with relief. The pastor rose and tentatively asked if
anyone else had something to say. A man stood up and walked slowly to
the podium. He said, "I'm David." The entire congregation held its
breath. "I just want to tell my wife that the word is sternum ."

Less than 2 weeks to go!!
Well it's official: we're in the waiting game. I'm 37 weeks, 3 days today and my doctor told me last week he will definitely induce me by 39 weeks. But we're ready: I packed our bags on Sunday night, Brent mowed the grass and has done every other house project imagineable, and tonight we finished the nursery - we're ready!
Hopefully I'll find enough to do in the next few days to keep me busy and not think about Gabriella's pending arrival. Oh I don't know like get a massage! Brent surprised me with a free massage so I'm doing that tomorrow afternoon and I cannot wait!!
Here are some pictures of the nursery - enjoy!
