So I was hoping Brent would post something about his first experience this week at Stand-Up comedy, but he hasn't.
Let me catch you up on what's going on in case you didn't know about his comedic opportunity...Before we moved to Nashville, Brent found out that there are several comedy clubs in Nashville that have open mic nights for comedians. (not offered in Chattanooga, unfortunately) So he got the details and we knew the first opportunity we had, he would try it out.
Tuesday night we headed downtown to Bar Car - supposedly where the open mic took place each Tuesday. Brent was told to be there by 7:30 pm and the show started at 8:00 with about 18 comedians on average performing each night. Of course Brent had been thinking about it all day and knew that this was his big shot!
We show up to the location and not a single person is there - doors locked, no one around, it looks like a ghost town.
Needless to say, he was disappointed. It's actually rather tough to put into words the way we felt - I thought it was funny because Brent was so worked up about the whole deal that the fact they were closed was rather comical to me (pardon the play on words - ha ha).
We did take the opportunity to "play" downtown - we came across this statue of Billy Graham. Yes, I said Billy Graham. Ironically, it's located right beside Lifeway Christian Bookstore's headquarters and immediately in front of the Southern Baptist Convention. I guess it's appropriate to say he's the "spokesperson" for both???
Brent had two favorite parts to the evening:
1. We went to the top floor of the Sheraton hotel in downtown Nashville and it was awesome! The view was incredible - and if you know my husband, that was right up his ally. Even though he wouldn't go close to the windows because he got a little "butt puckered."
2. We think we saw a Hannah Montana movie being filmed at the Hermitage Hotel! It was actually pretty cool too. The employees of the hotel were pretty tight lipped. We asked if they knew who it was and their response was, "a really popular teenage girl with a regular show on the Disney channel."
We drove over to West End/Vanderbilt area and ate dessert at TGI Friday's (random, I know, but I had a gift card)
We took a picture of Ruth's Chris - THE best steak Brent and I have had in our entire lives. We ate there for our three year anniversary on our way to San Francisco - ironically just 2 days before we found out we would be living in Nashville!
Here's a picture of the restaurant and one of Brent and I. I'm not sure what face that is that Brent's making, but it makes me laugh, so I'm posting it!
