"We would like to extend this offer to you..."

Today was the big day: I made the final decision on my job and I feel so great about it! I decided to work for the big company in Nashville instead of going with the nonprofit here. I had a tough decision - the nonprofit position was awesome. The staff was great, it would have been so much fun and right in line with my professional experience. However, the larger company had a lot more to offer: even though the position may not be exactly what I thought I would end up doing here, it is a GREAT opportunity to learn an entirely new field and new industry.

My first official day as a permanent employee is the 27th, but I'm still working in the mean time. I am really thankful for God's provision - it's amazing that He has opened so many doors of opportunity for us while we transition to a new city and so many new things.

Just a few ways to show how amazing this whole process has been:

1. I really felt strongly about a certain number to ask for in salary at this company. I have never been in a position to truly negotiate salary, but I really felt like I had nothing to lose!! Amazingly, this large company accepted the number I asked for in salary. It was such confirmation that I was making the right decision!

2. My health insurance at my last employer is scheduled to end on May 31st - just to prove how amazing everything has worked out, my new insurance becomes effective June 1st!!! I don't have one single day pass without health insurance. I think that is pretty incredible!!!

3. For those that know me really well, this one's REALLY important: I have the same amount of vacation time (3 weeks) as I did at my last employer!!

Needless to say, I am very excited and it's such a relief to know I have a job and we can start getting settled!! WOO HOO
