Guatemala!!!

In less than 72 hours I'll be on a plane flying to a far away land in Guatemala. I've been in denial about it until today when the emails from my fellow team members started coming in about packing lists, our schedule of activities and all the other flurry of excitement.
I've been away for a few days helping out my greatest friend with the newest member of their family. It has been such a joy to see my little lamb play and be full of delight around her "big sister" Ada. They love each other so much and I can't wait to watch them grow up and show them all the fun times they have had over their little lifetimes.
So I haven't really said much about my trip to Guatemala, not because I'm not excited, just that I have been so extremely busy for a few weeks that time has FLOWN and it seems as though it has slipped up on me.
Last week I was finally able to attend one of our team meetings and it was a good one to be in attendance! We were able to hear a LOT about what to expect with the culture, climate, what to wear, what we'll be doing, the really cool sites we're visiting, and other good stuff. We are working with Engadi Ministries and beginning construction on one of their first orphanages in Antigua. We just received our schedule for the week and it looks like we're doing construction 4 days of the 7 that we're there, then serving food to several villages, as well as getting to visit one of the top 10 most beautiful lakes in the WORLD and the Picaya Volcano - an active volcano with most recent activity in May 2010.
I'm not 100% sure what I expect from this trip other than I know it will be life-changing. I'm sure it will be emotional to be away from not only Gabbie, but Brent as well. I know many of you will be praying for us and I really appreciate it! Pray for protection for our team - traveling as well as while we are in Guatemala working and touring that all of our group stays safe. Pray for direction once we arrive in what we are specifically supposed to be doing. Also pray for Brent and Gabbie of course - that everything goes smoothly for them back here at home.
Looking forward to my next post which will be post-Guatemala!
