Rare Update...

Well day 3 in Guatemala and it's amazing. I won't go into detail here, just wanted to post a few pictures that I've taken these past few days. We have a team blog that we're updating every day - literally each of us have been assigned a day and we blog. My day is on Thursday with Mitchell so I'm looking forward to sharing what's happening so far.

In short, it's been incredible. I can't wait to re-type all of my journal entries to share all the details of the trip.

Anyway, I thought you all would enjoy some photos all the way from Guatemala!!

This is where we're staying - well looking out from our "patio"/"porch" to one of the other housing units. We're surrounded by a 20 foot concrete wall with barbed wire along the top - aka, we're really safe :)

Another one of our beautiful views from the house - in the distance is one of 13 volcanoes here. We wake up in the morning and there's a perpetual smell of something burning - it's the volcano :) Oh and we've been warned we might feel tremors. YIKES

This is walking back up a sidewalk when we met Olivia. Hopefully you can tell the incline from this pic.

This was us as a group playing with kids in "Paradise" - one of many neighborhoods within Zone 18 of Guatemala City (The worst slum in the area). These kids just gradually started following us as we walked around through the houses. We eventually had about 50 kids.
We had bubbles and plastic helicopter toys and popsicle stick frames to make with the kiddos. I will write WAY more about this later...

Here we are within the heart of Paradise walking down to another house but they weren't home. These are literally houses on the side of the mountain, built directly on top of each other.
