May Events

wow is it really possible that we're already in June? I think May just flew by without anyone realizing it.
We had a super busy May with a lot of major events and activities to attend - some of which I already blogged about in earlier posts. I think I left off right before we headed to Chattanooga for my nephew, Bronson, 16th birthday. The crazy floods we had in Nashville kind of spoiled the original plans which was to have a surprise party at Dave and Buster's. So on to Plan B: Chuck E. Cheese. What kid doesn't find that place absolutely fun and crazy? This was a particularly tough birthday coming just 2 weeks after Bronson lost his grandmother very suddenly. She always took great care of all her grand kids on their birthdays - taking them shopping for a full day all by themselves. She was definitely missed on Bronson's big celebration!

Here are just a few fun pictures from the day...

The following weekend, Brent, Gabbie and I headed to East Nashville for an arts festival. We were so excited to get to see Ivey Handcrafted from Chattanooga. She makes hand made felt items - Gabbie has a onesie that her Aunt Jennifer gave us for a baby shower. She definitely is extremely talented.
So I have a few pictures from the day, none of which really highlight the festival but more the day we spent walking around the area. We had some friends recommend eating at RosePepper which ROCKED and we stumbled upon some neat stores and shops. It was a great day in Nashville - we're trying to do get out and explore more of this fabulous city we like to call home.

Here's one of my new flower from the festival - I guess that's the best representation of the day..ha

This just SCREAMS Nashville, huh?

The following week we drove down to Huntsville, AL to watch Brent's cousin, Jada, graduate from her 2 year nursing program at Calhoun Community College. We are so proud of her and were so excited to get to see her walk across the first of many stages! She is going on to the University of AL to get her Bachelor's degree in nursing. To say it was a toasty evening is an understatement - the ceremony was outside and boy was it hot hot hot. We kind of missed the memo that the event would be outside, so needless to say we were not really appropriately dressed for the night. oops. Still a great time!
Here are some great pics - congratulations Nurse Jada....

Finally we had a few really fun playdates in May - one with our new friends Mayme and Katherine and the other with the whole group of moms from church where we went to Lebanon to pick strawberries!
Mayme and Gabbie are just a few weeks apart in age and really do have a great time playing together. On this outing, we me up for lunch at Panera and did a little walking around the mall. I am so impressed with Katherine as she toted Mayme in her carrier throughout the mall sans stroller. She is all of 5 feet, 100 pounds AND Mayme weighs well over 20 pounds. She got some funny looks as you can imagine.

Love those beautiful blue eyes:

A few days later, we all headed to Lebanon to the Circle S farms to pick our own strawberries. I wasn't quite sure how this would go with a 9 month old, but it was so much easier thanks to carpooling. Jessica and Jackson let us ride along with them and while Jackson napped, Jessica watched both the kiddos so I could do all the picking for us. We walked away with a nice size container (don't ask me what size, I am horrible with that). A few days later I made a homemade strawberry pie that turned out just ok (if you have a good recipe, I'd LOVE to have it...)
Anyway, here are a few fun pics from that day as well....(I LOVE the one of Jackson's face - he ate more strawberries than I think I picked that day. haha)
