Quick Update

wow has it really been one month since I last posted? Sorry.
Hopefully by way of creative posting, you will get the picture of not only what you have missed out on in our lives, but also why I haven't been able to post.

A few weeks ago, I was offered a very part-time j.o.b. with a local real estate company. It's a really long story, but basically a few months ago this offer came in the form of a more full time/80 hours a week kind of marketing director position that I was not interested in. This time around, it was a little more attractive with loads of flexibility and not permanent (read: still get to stay at home with Gabbie and do my primary job = be a mommy!). I took it and for three weeks now I've been working on Mondays and Tuesdays for a few hours while Gabbie stays with our good friends who happen to live right across the street from the office. Pretty sure it couldn't have worked out any better.
The problem with this is that since I started this job, my cake orders have been FLYING in. I am sooo happy about it, but it's made for an extremely busy few weeks. I had my very first wedding cake order on the exact same weekend as we had two house guests AND it was my first week at work.
Then the next week, I had FOUR more order and had to turn down two phone calls for additional work. wow. Really? This week is another busy week with a HUGE first birthday order (cake, smash cake, sugar cookies, rice krispy treats and chocolate suckers) and I thought I went overboard...yikes. No complaints though. Really. If nothing else, working in a "traditional" office has allowed me to appreciate having my own business and working for myself. Love it. When something goes wrong, it's only my fault. period. Here is a picture of one of my favorite cakes I did this past weekend for Gabbie's best buddy, Mayme:

On the same week I started the job, Mom to Mom also started back up! You may remember many of my posts last year on various studies we did and activities - I loved mom to mom last year. It was so very timely for me with a newborn and the shock that settled in after a few weeks of being without regular adult conversation. I used to think these types of "mommy groups" would never be my thing, but man I love it. This year we're doing "Heart talk" and with all new small groups, it's sure to mean all new relationships. Looking forward to seeing how the year will evolve....

We have stayed busy with our regularly scheduled weekend activities. If you have been a reader for a while, you know we're not the type to sit on the couch on the weekends and do nothing (not to say we don't do that, but normally it's after we've been out and about doing something else - ha!) I have a TRUCK LOAD of pictures:: literally:: to post and share of all the million activities we've had.

We had the pleasure of going to the Brooks and Dunn Final Rodeo concert a few weeks ago. For those who may not know, Brooks and Dunn is breaking up. It's a sad time in our history, but as they explained at their concert - nothing's wrong, but all good things must come to an end. While I have at least 50 more photos from the night and about 10 videos, here's a concise collage of the night. Brent's night was made when his favorite red head made an appearance to sing her line to "Cowgirl Don't Cry." It was a phenomenal concert! Definitely a little emotional on their part, but wow - phenomenal! (click on the collage to make it bigger on your screen)

As I previously mentioned, our good friend Jeremy came in for a very last minute trip a few weeks ago. Brent scored tickets to the Titans/Steelers game and at the mention of having another ticket, Jeremy dropped everything and made the 9 hour drive on Friday night. We had a blast. The last time we saw him was almost 2 years ago when we made the trek over Valentine's Day weekend to attend his wedding.
Again, another collage - click to make it bigger. All the pictures along the right side of the collage are from our private tour of Titan's Owner Bud Adam's suite. Our neighbor was able to get us a behind the scenes look at Mr Adam's suite! It was a sweet experience - no pun intended. It was neat to see that every one has an assigned seat in the suite and there are small tv's in front of each chair. Not to mention, as it should be, this one has THE best view ever!

So of course I have plenty to talk about with Gabbie - there is so much she's doing these days, but I want to save that for a separate post...stay tuned and I'll try to get some pictures and videos uploaded over the next few days in between decorating cakes and making mickey mouse cookies, rice krispy treats and chocolate suckers! yikes
