Bring it On 2011!

I was just perusing through all the Facebook status updated from New Year's last night - it's amazing how many people wish Happy New Year via FB or Twitter. Not to mention all those people who send out mass texts with "Happy New Year." I say it too - maybe not via a mass text or FB or Twitter, but have you stopped to think about what that really means?
Would you ever wish someone a Un-Happy New Year?
Brent started the morning off with his million dollar question, "What are your goals for 2011, Becca?" We have Tre, Brittany and Bronson with us for a few days, so of course he challenged them to make goals for 2011 as well. I just read my post from 2010 about goal planning - I didn't write out specific goals on our blog, but it did remind me that I accomplished a HUGE personal goal in 2010. One that's been on my goal list for about 2-3 years: I am really proud of my goal of completing a half marathon this year. I know you all are probably sick of hearing about it - it was just 13.1 miles, but it was more than just the 13.1 miles for me - it was about the journey to get there...here. (and I am not looking for anyone to say "I am so proud of you") And the opportunities that have come from being in better physical condition not just for me, but for my entire family.

So as I look to 2011, the Whitakers have some big things in store. We will both be 30 this year (yes, I am already 30 - Brent turns 30 in June) and we both had things we wanted to accomplish by now - we'll get there.
We have another round (or two) of Financial Peace University that we're leading beginning in February. We feel so strongly that this is our primary purpose for being at the church we are, that we are hoping to be able to coordinate multiple classes this spring.
We have a baby girl who is growing before our eyes and we want to make it a goal to enjoy every minute of her life. I truly feel God telling me to enjoy every minute of our lives instead of wondering what is to come.
Brent's job has been great, but I know God has so much in store for him - he is too much of a "big thinker" to stay inside a box. I know he will be challenged this year to do some really BIG things.
I have really enjoyed exploring the opportunities of A Cake Boutique - it has been great dipping my toe in to entrepreneurship. I am proud of the business I have built and I am anxious to continue to explore additional opportunities.
I cannot believe in three months I will embark on my first mission trip to Guatemala. I know it will be life changing and will definitely set a different tone for 2011.

What's in store for you all in 2011? Have you stopped to think about it and pray for God's direction before you set sail vs praying for protection after you've set sail?

Happy New Year Opp Knockers. Thank you all for being a part of our lives - even if it is only through "joining" our blog and being a private reader.

We had a little gathering of some good friends at our house for New Year's Eve - here are a few pictures from the night. It was so much fun to eat WAY too much food, play some REALLY fun games and hang out with great friends.

We got to play Bunco for the first time - MAN it is awesome!! Seriously, we are addicted and may actually start a little regular game night now.

My Aunt Sally got all of us "original" grand kids fireworks for Christmas so we got to shoot those off as well. We had 30+ mph winds last night, so it made things rather interesting when shooting these.
