Foot, Lunch Dates, Cake, Chattanooga

Hey There Hi There Ho There!

I have a few things to update..

1. My foot is doing great! When we went to the doctor last week, he originally told me I could start putting a little weight on my foot and walk with the help of my crutches. At the end of my appointment, he changed his mind and told me to wait another week. Well my foot has been feeling great so today I took a few VERY light steps with the help of my crutches and it felt WEIRD. The bottom of my foot feels like when your foot is about to fall asleep and there's like thousands of needles going in the bottom. It's strange. I'm sure it's just all the nerves and tendons getting readjusted :) But thanks to everyone whose called or emailed or sent get well wishes. I've gotten some awesome stuff including flowers, scrapbooking supplies, a funny card and most recently: an awesome gift card from my friends at TVFCU!!! woo hoo nothing helps the healing process better than FOOD!
2. If ever I doubted my friendship with Brittany, it was solidified this past week as she had a very PLEASANT surprise for me. Brent called me on Thursday morning and said he was having a rough day and wanted to come pick me up for lunch. I thought it was super nice so I didn't complain, but it was really strange. We're both trying to be conservative with our gas usage and the round trip for him to our apartment is about 45 minutes. BUT I didn't say anything and just went with the flow. I made my way down our steps and waited patiently for him outside. Next thing I know, this little red head pulled up in front of our apartment!! Brittany and Ada surprised me and took me to lunch on Thursday. It was an awesome surprise. We had a great time - we ate at Puffy Muffin Restaurant (it was incredible) and walked around a few cute stores in the area. It was a very short but awesome and sweet visit. We had a great time and she even brought me some get well gifts: scrapbooking supplies, a cooking magazine and my fave candy: sour worms! Unfortunately, I made a fatal mistake and left the worms on the dashboard in the car and when we returned a few hours later, the worms were one huge blob of GOO.

Thanks for the visit Brittany and Ada - it was awesome!!

3. Cake Classes are going really well. We started fondant and gum paste tonight meaning I'll learn to do a little more with fondant. Last week I made 2 different cakes - one for my class that involved THIRTY roses made of fondant. These little suckers are no easy feat with EACH rose requiring a 4 step process. CRAZY!!! The end result is beautiful, I must say.
I also have the wonderful pleasure of making a birthday cake for Maddy - her mom Sharon works with me. I offered to make her cake and even worked together on the design.
It literally took me all day, but it was a great learning experience. Definitely a few things I'll do differently next time, but I think there might be some more orders coming down the pipe because so many co-workers saw my work! YAY

Here are some cake pictures:

Last, but definitely not least - we had a great visit to Chattanooga this past weekend. I took ZERO pictures, but all the memories are in my mind :) ha ha We started the weekend by going to watch my nephew play football on one very hot FALL morning. We ended up spending the entire day at my parents house afterwards playing card games and eventually sitting around a campfire in their backyard making s' mores. It was awesome!

Sunday we spent the day with the Whitakers at Brandi and JJ's and had a great time there as well. The boys are getting so big and have developed some very cute personalities! Brent and I had a great trip - it was probably the least stressful trip we've had to Chattanooga.

Now it's back to the work week carrying on life as usual in awesome Nashville! I hope everyone's getting to spend some time outside with this BEAUTIFUL weather we're having.

Saturday was a wonderful memory maker for all of us. Dad and I really enjoyed everyone being over. Being around the campfire was a great bonding moment for us all.
Your cakes are really coming along. Great job.
Lots of love to you and Brent.
